Our multi-year effort to extend the Byway from Howey Heights to Mount Dora was approved on May 1, 2014 by the Florida Department of Transportation. The extension includes the City of Mount Dora, the Town of Astatula along with spur roads leading to Little Lake Harris and two trailheads within the Lake Apopka North Shore Restoration Area. The trailheads are Clay Island and North Shore. The approval of this extension offers us the opportunity to showcase the wonderful recreational opportunities with the equally wonderful shopping and restauranting to our byway travelers.
