Featured Food & Lodging

This byway features a wide variety of choices for food & lodging. We arrange them by community. We don’t include all communities, since some have sparse restaurants. Options for lodging include a mix of hotels, bed and breakfast inns, vacation rentals, and campgrounds/cabins.

Mount Dora

Mount Dora has the most diverse selection of restaurants in one place along the byway, and is a popular destination in Central Florida for a weekend date or getaway. Many restaurants here fill up during the many festivals and events, so be sure to call first if possible.

The selection includes all levels of dining, and many varieties, including fine dining, pubs, bakeries, an English tea room, barbeque, German, Cuban, Italian, and Mexican.

Lodging opportunities along the byway vary by community culture and demeanor.  Clermont, a newer community has multiples of newer chain hotels, yet maintains several resorts and RV resorts with long histories.  Mt Dora, on the other hand, has many bed and breakfast facilities and cottages.  You can find lodgings using trip advisor and yelp.  Below are individual historic facilities.

Mount Dora

The Lakeside Inn is the oldest hotel along the byway, established in 1882. Additional rooms and buildings were added every few years to keep up with the growing number of visitors. Calvin Coolidge and First Lady Grace Coolidge arrived in mid-January 1930 for a month-long stay following his retirement. Extensive photos and history can be found on their website.
